PHEVMax Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 — last updated 20 April 2026

This policy explains in plain English what PHEVMax does with your data. It's written to comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

PHEVMax is operated by Victoria Smith (sole trader, United Kingdom). You can contact us at hello@phevmax.co.uk for any privacy question, data request, or complaint.

DataWhy we need itHow long we keep it
Email addressTo log you in and recover your accountUntil you delete your account
Vehicle setup (make, model, battery size, MPG, etc.)To calculate your £/mile, savings and break-evenUntil you delete your account
Trips and charging sessions you logTo power your dashboard and historyUntil you delete the trip or your account
Postcodes entered in the trip plannerConverted to coordinates for routing; we don't store full addressesPer-trip only, deleted when the trip is deleted
Basic usage analytics (pages visited, anonymous)To see which features are used and spot bugs12 months, aggregated

What we don't collect: your name, phone number, payment card details (handled by Stripe, never seen by us), exact location tracking, vehicle registration numbers, or anything you don't explicitly enter.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on Supabase (EU region, Ireland), our database provider. We have a Data Processing Agreement with Supabase under UK GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses. Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

Postcodes you enter in the trip planner are sent to postcodes.io (a free UK service) for geocoding, and to OSRM (open-source routing) for route calculation. Neither service stores personally identifiable data.

Anonymous research — opt in, change any time

During setup, we ask if you're happy for us to use your anonymous driving patterns (e.g. "Jaecoo 7 owners average X mpg") to publish research reports and improve PHEVMax. We aggregate across groups of 50+ users so no single person can be identified.

You can opt out any time in Settings → Privacy. Opting out doesn't affect your ability to use the app.

If you opt in and we share aggregated insights commercially (e.g. with manufacturers or charging networks), we never share your individual data — only group-level statistics where you can't be identified.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

AccessDownload everything we hold on you as a CSV (Settings → Export my data)
CorrectEdit your vehicle setup, trips, or tariffs directly in the app

ComplainTo the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we handle your data

Cookies

PHEVMax uses one essential cookie (your login session). We don't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. If we add optional analytics in future, we'll use a privacy-friendly provider that doesn't require a cookie banner (e.g. Plausible).

Children

PHEVMax is not aimed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll email you and show a notice in the app. The version number at the top of this page always reflects the current policy.
